Educational information, not medical advice
The calculators, guides and app on TDEECalc provide educational wellness information. TDEE, BMR, calorie targets, macros, BMI, ideal weight, body-fat, projection and adaptive estimates are mathematical estimates based on population equations. They are not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and they do not guarantee any outcome.
The content is written by an independent software developer, not a physician or registered dietitian. It has not yet been reviewed by a medical professional. See the editorial policy.
Who should talk to a clinician first?
Speak with a physician or registered dietitian before using calorie targets from this site if any of the following apply to you:
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding. Energy needs change during these stages, and the figures here are calorie math only.
- You have, or have had, an eating disorder, or you are worried about your relationship with food.
- You have diabetes or take medication that affects blood sugar, appetite or weight.
- You have a chronic condition such as kidney, heart, liver or thyroid disease.
- You are under 18. TDEECalc is designed for adults aged 18 and over, and its calculators do not accept younger ages.
Low-calorie safety
Do not eat below your BMR for long, or below roughly 1,200 kcal a day (women) or 1,500 kcal a day (men), without medical supervision. Stop and seek advice if you feel dizzy, faint, unusually fatigued or unwell while changing how you eat.
Estimates can be wrong
Equations predict average people. Your real energy expenditure can differ by several hundred calories a day. Treat any number as a starting point, compare it against your weight trend over several weeks and adjust slowly. How the numbers are produced is documented in the methodology.
Emergencies
If you think you may have a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services. Nothing on this site replaces professional care.
